Gmu 105/Northport snow levels

Planning to hit Northport with some young hunters for the youth turkey season. Can anyone chime in on what the snow levels are like? Also flock updates would be cool too, but not needed .

Lot can happen between now and April 1, but most all unplowed roads are impassable with a foot of crunchy snow on them now, its snowmobile season still.

You'll want to focus down low where you have access off plowed roads, especially sunny slopes when first green up.   

If the snow comes off in the next 3 weeks it'll still be a soggy mess on the roads and a stuck fest.   Every year we get turkey hunters than think they can drive in and rut up the roads and tear them up, which means more gates going up.

I'll post more updates towards late March, its just too variable to predict April 1 road conditions yet.

   Right now even the county roads are soft. The skool bus is making ruts.

Good advice.  Drove my Kubota to WiFi zone at your camp last fall.  Turned around to go back and a big tree was laying across the road 40 yards away.  Managed to offroad and crawl over it.

Who's Road? I need about 7-8 more truck loads. For the people who don't heed the advice.

Make sure you have recovery gear to pull yourself out or be pulled out by others.  Many more than a few of us have gotten very stuck in early may.

Around here in 121 getting that freeze at night, thaw during the day. Gotta be careful going in on those frozen roads in the early morning because they're a muddy mess when you try to come out later in the day. North slopes and anything in the shade is still snow and the rest is soft mud. Still some time obviously before the hunt starts, but I'd be leary where I took my rig. Even if it dries a little, it won't take much of a storm during the hunt to turn them back into a mess. Birds are still.in their big winter flocks with Tom's mostly still in their bachelor groups.

Nice!  Got lucky!  long way around if you have to take the high road

Maybe a couple more weeks will get the shady draws clear enough to chew my way in.  Hoping the cougar quota will still have a spot for me.  I want to make up for the month I lost last spring.
